Monastery Island

The Monastery Island is a place where everyone has a mysterious romantic feel. The very first mention of it was found in the writings of St. Theodosius, and according to one of the legends received this place from the monastery that was located here in the IX century. Among the historical figures who visited the island were Princess Olga and Prince Volodymyr, Prince Mstyslav, and others. The local places were seen by Batu Khan himself, and eventually, the prince Potemkin-Taurice was attracted to the plan to build a university on the island and, at the same time, a bridge.
