Sofroniivskyi Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries for men of Slobozhanshchyna, located among the majestic oak forests on Mt. Chudna. The official date of the founding of the monastery is 1630, but there is an evidence that the first caves appeared here in the XI century. The icon of the Mother of God, which was taken by the monks from the burned by the Mongol-Tatars Kyiv, attests to the age of the monastery.

Trinity Cathedral

The Trinity Church was erected on the highest point of intersection of Troitska and Novomestenska streets. At the end of the nineteenth century, the Trinity Church did not have enough space for all its visitors, so the municipal head Pavlo Kharytonenko suggested to the spiritual department to build a new church next to it for his own money. The church had to resemble St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg.
